The burgers are amazing. The service may be even better than the food there, that is not an easy feat, the whole place has such a fun laid back atmosphere. Fast and very friendly service ! Our first trip trip to Hickies will definitely not be our last!

What can you say about Hickie’s other than it’s the best? They have the greatest burgers and fries I’ve ever had...amazing bean soup that Tastes like my granny used to make. What out for ‘Sug if you’re a virgin, she’ll announce it to the entire restaurant. Great service, food and prices. It’s a destination every time I’m in Portsmouth.

Food is always good, atmosphere gets a little loud sometimes, staff is a little slow sometimes. But it can be expected. Because they are so busy. And some customers are kind of demanding. So they try to please all. Overall I think it is a pretty good place. And the best bean soup ever.

Absolutely amazing! Best hamburger I've ever eaten! You have to try the Big Yogi, it was so good I ate 2 which never happens. It was so good it's worth driving the half hour for! The price makes up for the drive. Between my wife and I we bought 1 Big Yogi, 2 Junior Big Yogi's, a fish platter with cole slaw and gravy fries, regular fries, and 2 drinks. The total bill was $16 and change!

After living my life in a nearby town I finally made the trek to try the famous Hickies. I ordered a few different items to get a true sampling of the tastes that are provided from the historic eatery. The burgers are melt in your mouth fan-freaking-tastic. I am fairly certain that these will be served on the table in Heaven. The fries and gravy, I have to admit I was a little apprehensive. However, WOWEY MAUI was that a match made in the stars. On to the bean soup. I could have sworn I was in my late grandmother's kitchen stacking soup cans in the pantry whilst she was simmering her very own ham bone soup beans. All in all definitely worth a trip and worth trying a little of everything!!!

Great local establishment. The burgers are good and the chili is great. The only downside is that parking can be tight at peak hours.

The food is amazing WATCH OUT WHITE CASTLE! Their food is genuinely beyond delicious and as a first time visitor I can tell you the food ✓ service ✓ speed ✓ and then the extremely nostalgic atmosphere with the classic car hop and diner music accompanied by the local vintage high school graduating class pictures spanning for close to a century and decor. Overall if your within driving or visiting distance....... MAKE THE TRIP!

I grew up in new Boston and this was the best place to get burgers hands down I haven't been there in over 12 years now but I'm sure it's still just as delicious

Hickie's is the best diner in Ohio. The burgers are homemade patties and always cooked perfectly. Two people can eat for right at $20. My wife loves their fries and gravy and I always get at least two double cheeseburgers. Oh, and new customers will get a shout out from Sugg! She calls them "virgins" and it's hilarious! If you haven't had Hickies's, you haven't lived!

Prices aren't too bad burger wasn't anything special but the chili and cornbread we're great wait staff are friendly and attentive would recommend

I've been going to Hickies since it opened in 1975. Everytime that I am home to visit my Mom, I make a trip or two or three to Hickies. The ambiance is cozy, friendly, and full of historical artifacts. I get to see my mother's city council photos and my dad's old New Boston Tiger basketball team photos. This place houses photos, Glenwood High School sports decorations, and the building was once an old gas station and ice cream joint before the Hickmans took it over. The best things about Hickies is the friendly service and conversations. The service is equal to the delicious and greasy double cheeseburgers. The footers with sauce (chili), onion, and mustard are excellent. If you have more time to explore, the Big Yogi is a must! I love the chili and bean soup too. Oh and don't forget the fries drenched im brown gravy. Now you may understand why one trip just won't do when I'm I come home. Hickies gets my five stars everytime.

Awesome place, with great food, always clean,great people bathroom clean, place is usually has quiet a few people . Well worth the drive and wait.

Fantastic little burger joint! Warm and friendly staff. Quick service. Quick with the refills. Place is decorated with lots of local high school memorabilia and photos. Basic hamburger joint menu with lots of local twists. For instance on your foot long chili dog you can have traditional chili with beans or a local favorite of hot dog sauce which is a refinement of chili without beans, I recommend trying the sauce! Another local favorite is soup beans, just like my grandmother used to make. Also try some gravy on your fries!

This place was ok. Not the best food I have had but also not the worst. The staff was very friendly though. I was just somewhat disappointed with the size of the burgers and the portion of fries for the price. It was ok enough for me to potentially stop and eat here again someday while passing through but not enough "wow" factor that I would make a special trip to go visit this place again.

Great food, great service, very welcoming and friendly. So friendly in fact that it almost bored on creepy lol. Still. A nice place to eat. The only draw back is that it is located in such a lousy area

Love coming across these iconic style community diners. Minding my own business and looked to the right seen one spot. Busy place, smelled good. I took that spot. Packed to the gills, found spots open at the counter, took those spots. Menu boards on the walls, photos, decor, ambiance and energy of the rooms. This place was hopping. Loved it. 3 Cheeseburgers some fries and drinks add tip still under $20.00 bucks. Food was good. Staff worked great together. Small workspace and all the business made things tight. Loved the food. If you have not been there yet, get down there and... just read the shirt..

It's just ok in my book. Why they DON'T make fresh cut fries is really the question? The gravy on the fries was good but the fries aren't fried long enough and where white and floppy. The hamburger needs seasoning and they need to toast the buns! Some butter and a toasted bun would make they burgers better. The waitress yelling about people being "virgins" is super TACKY! Then going on and on about who had visited there while we were trying to enjoy our food was also annoying since we didn't ask for this information. It's a small dining room, clean but nothing fancy. Not sure if I would return again.

Hickies is always A#1 in mine and Bill's book! Love 'em!
